Property Snapshot: 9 Steuben Bay | Alameda

9 Steuben Bay, a timeless home on a quiet street in Alameda’s Harbor Bay Isle Point neighborhood

by Shannon Reese

Hanna Fry & Sally Anne Rudloff, founders of Alameda Senior Transitions – a network of experts who can help solve seniors’ challenges in design, real estate, health, organization, and financial or legal issues, talk about their new listing - 9 Steuben Bay in beautiful Harbor Bay Isle Pointe.

What challenges did you help this senior seller overcome to get the home on the market?

Hanna said, “First of all, we’ve got a seller living on almost the other side of the country, so we are her ‘feet on the ground’ to get things accomplished.” The seller lives in the Midwest and really needed professional guidance paired with hands-on actions to get the home whipped into shape. Her sister had passed on after many years of owning this home, so she found herself responsible for the maintenance, payment of taxes, etc. of a home in the Bay Area – something she didn’t relish.

Hannah Fry (left) & Sally Anne Rudloff (right) are both REALTORS® and both hold the SRES® (Senior Real Estate Specialist) designation. An SRES® is trained to meet the special needs of maturing Americans when selling, buying, relocating, or refinancing residential or investment properties.

Sally stated, “She had no intention of moving here, so she quickly decided to sell it. The seller was a bit overwhelmed in the beginning, especially with the various requirements from the HOA and city regulations that she had no familiarity with. That’s when we got involved.”

Hanna offered, “So we began our usual checklist of determining what needed to be done to go on the market: inspections, gathering disclosures, painting, cosmetic upgrades, cleaning, landscape maintenance, staging, marketing, and the like. She immediately began to see that we do what we say and she became even more confident in our abilities to deliver.”

What’s actually valued by most sellers

Sally & Hanna have each been REALTORS® for over 30 years, are battle-tested, and have overcome many challenges throughout their successful careers. Sally categorized her philosophy as, “Our clients become like family to us. They appreciate our honest and direct communication – no buzzwords or razzle-dazzle – we want them to feel fully informed and not overwhelmed.”  Whereas Hanna summed it up as, “Marketing is great and all that, but being easy to talk to and listen to your client, that’s what makes people want to work with you and allows them to remain calm through the inevitable bumps in the road that you will encounter when selling a home. It’s really as simple as that.”
